Updates on Your Credit Repair Process
Credit repair specialists assist in the preparation of the appropriate letters to the credit bureaus and to debt collection agencies. These letters should be specific to your credit information, not blanket dispute letters that may be ignored by the credit bureaus. They may mail the letters on your behalf or provide the letters for you to mail.
Professional credit repair specialists can provide a variety of options for how to handle negative items on your credit report, give you the pros and cons of each, and help you decide the best way to proceed based on your circumstances and your long-term credit and financial goals. These options may include disputing, paying off, negotiating removal, settling, or waiting out the credit reporting time limit.
During your counseling session, a counselor will go over your current financial circumstances. To get a clear understanding your counselor will ask questions like these below:
What is your household income?
What are your monthly expenses?
Do you have a budget?
What credit cards, loans, or other debts do you have?
After covering income and expenses, the counselor may review your credit report and will discuss the options available to you based on your income, expenses and debt load.
Items you should have with you:
List of your current expenses. This should include housing, food, utilities, any phone bills, loans, credit cards, anything you pay for regularly and bills that may be late.
Recent paystubs for you and/or your spouse, so you are able to provide information about your monthly household income.
Recent credit card statements are helpful so you can provide minimum payment information, due dates, etc.
